Is Disney's "Galaxy's Edge" Reservation System Going To Be A Galactic Mess?

No Way It Looks Like This on May 31st

Well, it's finally here. We now know how Disney will be handing out the ultimate Golden Ticket when it comes to reservations for Galaxy's Edge. You know, for those of us who aren't willing to shell out $906.00 a night for the Paradise Pier Hotel. I mean, we sort of know. According to Disneyland.com and the Disney Parks blog, specific details on how to make reservations will be available on the Disney Parks Blog and Disneyland.com on May 2 at 8 a.m. PT. Also, you must have a Disney Account to register for a reservation so be sure to create one before registration opens at 10 a.m. PT. As we’ve previously shared, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is opening on May 31 at the Disneyland Resort in Southern California and August 29 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida. If you are planning to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the Disneyland Resort between May 31 and June 23, 2019, a reservation and theme park admission are required. There is no additional cost to make a reservation, but reservations are subject to availability.

A message on the front page of the Disneyland.com page gives us a little more detail. Very little. Please check back on this page on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 8:00 AM Pacific Time for more details. We will begin taking reservations later that day at 10:00 AM.If you have not already done so, please create a Disney account before Thursday, May 2, 2019.

But Wait....

Did we read that right...?

Yep, we read that right. It turns out that Disney is both announcing the process to book your non hotel stay reservation AND beginning the process to book your reservation on the same dame with 2 HOURS OF ONE another. Anyone who has ever tried to book...well anything on the Disney computer servers know this has the potential to overload the computer system, much in the same way that the Death Star overloaded the Planet Alderaan (see what I did?). There's More... I know what you're thinking. "I've mortgaged my house and emptied the kids college fund to book a weekender at a Disney Resort Hotel, so I don't have to worry about it. Well, depending on if what we're hearing is true, I hope you're local. According to some Disney Facebook groups, your reservation for admission to Galaxy's Edge may not line up with your reservation. We do know that you weren't going to be able to pick the date of your choice to see Galaxy's Edge, but we didn't know that the dates Disney picks for you could be out of the range of your stay. In fact we are hearing that some resort guests are being given dates 2-3 days outside of their window. For instance, if your stay is July 4-6, you could conceivably receive a reservation for July 10th. Now, this is just social media talk, so we can't confirm 100% that this is the case. But there are several stories of this happening to multiple people which could end up leaving some guests with a bad feeling and Disney looking more like Darth Vader than Luke Skywalker. Stay tuned and leave your thoughts below.
